Club Overview

Established in 1953, Folkestone Saints Basketball Club is the oldest basketball club in Kent with a senior squad that has been one of the leading teams in the South East for many years.
The 2015/16 Season will see us running a National League Men's Division 4 team, National League under 16 and under 18 teams, two men's teams in the East Kent League, men's and Veterans (over 40's) teams in Medway League Division 1 and 2 respectively, junior teams in local Under-12, Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 Central Venue Leagues and the Folkestone Flames Ladies Team.

As well as local competitions, we have connections with many overseas teams, and frequently send teams to places like Boulogne, Rheims, Wimereux and Porto to compete in international tournaments, and routinely host tournaments that foreign teams are keen to attend.

Most training sessions and matches are held at the Folkestone Sports Centre, but elite junior training is held at the Three Hills Sports Park, and the senior National League squad currently travel to Ashford for their sessions.

New club members (players, beginners or officials) are always welcome. As well as developing playing skills, we always encourage involvement in coaching and officiating, and regularly run courses to enable members to gain qualifications at all levels of the game.

The club also places a heavy emphasis on developing junior players and works with the Shepway Sports Trust to send coaches into local schools to run basketball sessions and organise events. Folkestone basketball has been instrumental in the establishment of basketball scholarships at the Folkestone Academy.
